Son dernier livre paru, <em><strong>L\u2019 homme pr\u00e9historique est aussi une femme<\/strong><\/em> (Allary, 2020), est un best-seller traduit en 9 langues.<br><br><em><strong>Nous \u00e9tions si proches<\/strong><\/em> est son dernier ouvrage. <br>C\u2019est l\u2019histoire d\u2019un compagnonnage, long de plusieurs mill\u00e9naires, qui a pris fin hier. L\u2019animal a d\u00e9sert\u00e9 nos vies. Les animaux sauvages sont rel\u00e9gu\u00e9s au zoo ou en voie d\u2019extinction du fait de nos activit\u00e9s humaines. Les animaux d\u2019\u00e9levage sont pour la plupart soustraits \u00e0 notre regard. Les seuls dont nous demeurons proches sont les b\u00eates de compagnie, dont nous gommons la part sauvage.<br>Qu\u2019est-ce que cet \u00e9loignement dit de nous ?<br>Pour le savoir, Maryl\u00e8ne Patou-Mathis analyse les relations humain-animal sur le temps long, de l\u2019apparition d\u2019Homo sapiens \u00e0 aujourd\u2019hui. Depuis 300 000 ans, les animaux subviennent \u00e0 nos besoins vitaux, forgent nos mythes et croyances, participent \u00e0 notre d\u00e9veloppement. Nous avons \u00e9crit une histoire commune avec eux, jusqu\u2019au xixe si\u00e8cle.<br>C\u2019est ce basculement, incroyablement r\u00e9cent \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle de l\u2019humanit\u00e9, que raconte cet essai.
